The Parks and Recreation scholarship program covers a range of activities from mountain biking to skiing and “no‑school” fun‑day programs.
James said the requested funds typically support roughly 25 to 30 youth annually and are awarded on a first‑come, first‑served basis to families facing economic hardship or specific hardship events such as a house fire.
Council members moved and seconded the motion to approve submission of the application; the mayor called a roll call vote and the motion carried. Individual roll‑call votes were taken at the meeting; the transcript records affirmative responses and the mayor declared the motion carried. The council did not specify a matching city appropriation; this agenda item authorized submittal of the grant request to the Progressive Club.
No additional conditions were attached at the time of approval. Staff will proceed with the application process and, if funds are awarded, will administer scholarships through the Parks and Recreation Department.
