The Glenview Board on Jan. 7 approved final site plan review and preliminary landscaping for a parking‑lot expansion at 1119 Depot Street, the location of the new Hometown Coffee & Juice adjacent to the train station.
Director Brady described the project as parking‑lot improvements on the site of a demolished warehouse, with compliant stall and driveway widths, a dumpster enclosure, and a pad for a future outdoor dining pergola. Brady said final exterior elements — awnings, signage, lighting and outdoor dining furniture — will return to the Development Adjustments Commission (DAC) for appearance review before installation.
Trustee Sodotti said she was comfortable with the parking‑lot elements but raised a procedural objection to labeling the item a “final site plan review” when some aesthetic details still await DAC review. She said she was “not comfortable not knowing exactly what the design is going to look like” and expressed a desire to put the concern on record. Director Brady responded that the parking configuration and pergola pad are fixed and that the tenant has picked a pergola from a catalog; awnings, signage and landscaping will be reviewed by the DAC according to downtown design guidelines.
Despite the procedural concern, Trustee Bland moved to approve item 11b; Trustee Jones seconded and the motion carried on voice vote.
What’s next: the applicant will return to the DAC for final appearance approvals (awnings, signage, lighting, landscaping) and will proceed with exterior work in springtime when weather allows.
