Glenview — The Village Board on June 3 gave first consideration to the Foxtail restaurant’s plans to renovate the historic Glenview House at 1843 Glenview Road, add enclosed outdoor dining areas and update signage and lighting.
Director Brady said the proposal keeps the building footprint while adding front and rear enclosed three‑season dining spaces and an expanded rear deck. The Glenview History Center reviewed and suggested façade changes, and the applicant incorporated several suggestions; the Development Adjustments Commission recommended approval.
Board members discussed exterior illumination options. Several trustees and the History Center favored a modest uplighting scheme to accent historic cornices and windows; staff noted uplighting would require a zoning variation and the applicant had withdrawn the initial uplighting request but presented lower‑wattage alternatives. Trustees also favored an east‑facing garbage enclosure with a decorative garage door rather than a south‑facing protrusion.
Trustee Bland moved approval of first consideration and Trustee Jones seconded; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff said final appearance approvals, engineering, permits and a certificate of occupancy must occur before opening.
