Glenview swears in new officers and recognizes team that helped foil an alleged elder scam

Glenview — The Village of Glenview on Tuesday recognized multiple new hires and promotions in the Glenview Police Department and honored officers for their response to an April 9 incident involving an alleged elder financial scam.
Deputy Chief Mark Chesla highlighted coordinated work by Officer Ruslanis Livchuk, Officer Eugene Harlow and Detective/Sergeant James Cromley in responding after a spouse reported a large, unexplained cash withdrawal. Chesla said officers used repeated phone contact and license-plate reader data to locate the subject’s vehicle and determine the incident appeared to be an active scam.
President Jenny presided over a swearing-in ceremony that included Timothy McGruder, Bersan Barkari, Hunter Lubat, Edwin Castillo and promotions for James Cromley and others. Deputy Chief Michael Mazurkiewicz thanked families for their sacrifices and praised the department’s service to the community.
The board offered brief remarks of appreciation and invited family members to a reception after the meeting. No board action was required beyond the ceremonial oath and recognitions.
