The City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Dec. 3 authorizing transfer of a lease for city-owned property at 2057 South Broadway (the Terrado Golf Course cell-tower site) to a telecom company following corporate mergers.
City staff attorney John explained the action would transfer the existing lease to a new entity and that the city charter limits lease terms to a 25-year maximum; the current lease has about five years remaining and the proposed transfer could extend the term to 25 years if the tenant accepts. "This is consistent with our telecommunications plan," staff counsel said, noting remaining staff steps to finalize terms.
Council had no substantive questions and adopted Ordinance 52 87 on final passage by unanimous roll call (6-0). Staff will finalize administrative items and complete the lease assignment if the new tenant elects the extended term.
