Council asked staff to contact CSX and NCDOT and to seek permission to implement interim treatments such as moving yield signage, installing a concrete bulb‑out or a temporary HDPE/plastic barrier filled with concrete to push signage farther into view. "Part of it is being able to get the signage out here where it's more visible," Manager Parsons said; staff said they will attempt to get CSX sign‑off because work near the tracks may fall inside CSX’s control zone.
Staff noted permanent sidewalk construction and any permanent treatments will require DOT and CSX coordination and that a temporary barricade used previously could be reintroduced as a short‑term measure. Council asked engineering staff to return with a 30‑day plan for temporary mitigation and steps toward a permanent fix.
