Bluff, Utah — The Bluff Town Council examined a routine five-year wildland-fire cooperative agreement at its Dec. 9 work session and said staff would bring the agreement to a special meeting for approval after confirming the town’s fiscal commitment.
Speaker 1 read the agreement language and said the form listed the town’s participation commitment as $17, an amount members found surprisingly low. Speaker 2 and Speaker 4 explained that careful records of in-kind training, hours and equipment are frequently credited and likely reduced the cash liability; Speaker 2 said the fire department’s training and documented in-kind work likely accounted for the reduced figure.
Councilors agreed staff should place the cooperative agreement on a special-meeting agenda for a formal vote after confirming the records that support the in-kind credits. No binding financial liability beyond the agreement form was approved at the work session.
