Staff reports National Register nomination progress; long‑time planning staff liaison announces retirement

Ray, the commission’s staff liaison, told members the state nominations review committee recommended the Chautauqua Park and Ridgewood National Register nomination be forwarded to the National Park Service after consultant edits. "They recommended that it be listed on the National Register," Ray said, noting a consultant will make minor changes before submission.
Later in the meeting Ray announced his retirement, saying he has worked in city planning for almost 38 years and that his last day will be Dec. 1. Commissioners congratulated him and thanked him for his service as the commission’s staff liaison since the commission’s creation in 1989.
The National Register nomination will proceed through consultant edits and final submission to the National Park Service; the commission did not take a formal vote on the nomination at this meeting. Ray’s retirement will be managed by the planning director, who will determine staff coverage going forward.
