COPA unveils redesigned public dashboard and expands investigator training

LaKenya White, chief administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), told the board she is launching a redesigned public data dashboard built to provide a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, including access to live data such as officer-involved shootings and clearer definitions and context to improve public understanding.
White said COPA will resume distributing monthly district reports, launched an eleventh cohort of its internal COPA Academy (17 staff members are participating) with a graduation anticipated on Nov. 19, 2025, and will begin session 5 of the People's Academy on Sept. 23 (6:00–8:30 p.m.) at Kennedy-King College. COPA also plans a public survey to gather resident feedback about the dashboard and left flyers for attendees who wish to sign up for Peoples Academy sessions.
White framed the changes as part of COPA’s efforts to increase transparency and to equip investigators with training in investigations, legal concepts, implicit-bias instruction and procedural justice.
