Chicago Police Board affirms appeal outcomes, adopts posted training plan

At its Nov. 20 meeting, the Chicago Police Board considered several appeals from applicants who had been disqualified after background investigations and moved on a group motion specifying which disqualifications would be affirmed, which would be reversed, and which would be dismissed as untimely.
President Kyle Cooper called the roll for the motion and the board voted in favor. Cooper said the written decisions for the appeals would be entered, sent to the parties and promptly posted on the police board website.
On a separate item, Cooper said the board had posted a draft training plan for public comment on Oct. 31 and received no comments. Board members moved to adopt the posted draft and, by unanimous consent, the motion passed. Cooper described the plan as intended to ensure board members and hearing officers receive annual training "that will enhance our knowledge and skills needed to perform our duties effectively." The board said the adopted plan would be posted on the police board website.
