The Lake County Law & Judicial Committee on Jan. 6 approved two multi‑year contracts for policing services between the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and village governments.
The first, listed as agenda item 8.4, is a joint agreement among the Village of Lake Barrington, North Barrington, Lake County and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office covering Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2028. Jim Chernick of the Sheriff’s Office described the item as a renewal; he said the contract and costing were reviewed by the state's attorney, finance and risk offices and the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
Agenda item 8.5 is a similar renewal with the Village of Beach Park, covering January 2026 through Dec. 31, 2028. Chernick said it mirrors the Lake Barrington arrangement and the committee approved that motion by voice vote.
The record includes estimated annual amounts for both contracts but the transcripted dollar figures are garbled and inconsistent. The committee record should be checked for the official contract amounts and final signed agreements; the committee’s motion carried on each item with a voice vote and no recorded opposition.
The committee did not request further public comment and moved on to subsequent agenda items. The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 27.
