County staff alerted the Financial Services Committee to a fast‑moving development opportunity along Route 173 that may require terminating a 20‑year 173 gateway agreement among Lake County, Old Mill Creek and Wadsworth.
The administrator's office said staff has drafted materials to terminate the gateway agreement to make way for potential development but the item did not come before the committee because of timing; staff said they have spoken with Member Frank and plan to bring the termination directly to the county board on Tuesday with additional information provided to board members in advance.
Staff characterized utilities (water and sewer) as a major historical challenge for development in the corridor and said the parties are coordinating to act quickly. No formal action was taken by the committee at the Jan. 8 meeting; staff said it will provide additional information to the county board prior to Tuesday's meeting.
