The Effingham County administrative committee voted to forward personnel-related corrections to the full county board after staff explained requested changes from the state’s attorney and the sheriff’s office.
Staff reported an email from the state’s attorney requesting two adjustments to the salary schedule after the schedule had been passed; staff said one employee’s line remains unchanged while two other adjustments were required. Committee members agreed the requested edits would remain within the approved budget and moved to send the salary-schedule update to the full board for approval.
A sheriff’s office representative said initial salary values contained clerical errors. “The initial values were a little off, so they've just been corrected,” the representative said; the committee moved and seconded a recommendation that the full board approve the corrected hourly rates.
A separate clarification concerned a county officeholder’s assistant salary entry: a speaker noted that Rob Scales’ budgeted amount should be $130,000 rather than $120,000 and that another line should reflect the base salary without longevity; staff confirmed the requested changes.
All three items were forwarded to the full board for final action; no final appropriations or personnel appointments were made at the committee level.
