On Nov. 4 the Select Board unanimously approved a package of housekeeping changes to the Sustainable Westborough committee: it increased the number of associate (non‑voting) positions from two to three, rescinded a prior full‑member appointment of Gerald Q (converting the role to an associate arrangement) and amended a July 15 appointment to place a listed individual as an associate member.
Staff explained the changes were intended to correct prior appointment records and to align committee membership with availability and application intent. Peter Flynn, chair of Sustainable Westborough (present at the meeting), said the adjustments were made after working with staff and the committee to ensure continued participation from volunteers who cannot attend on Wednesdays if appointed as full, voting members.
All three motions — the expansion of associate member slots, the rescission of Gerald Q’s full‑member appointment, and the amendment of a prior vote to classify another participant as an associate — were moved, seconded and approved 5‑0. The committee will proceed with the revised member roster.
