Baldwin City Council approved Ordinance 1512 to rezone the property at 101 8th Street from commercial to residential.
City staff told the council the building at that address has functioned as a residence for more than a century but was designated commercial as part of a prior zoning overlay. "They're having issues with, selling the house because the underwriters for the different banks will not write a loan on it with it being a commercial zoning," a staff member explained, summarizing the owners’ reason for requesting the change. Staff said the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval.
A council member moved to approve Ordinance 1512 and the motion was seconded and approved on a recorded vote. The council recorded a 5-0 vote in favor.
The ordinance changes the property’s zoning designation to residential; staff will complete the administrative steps to finalize the rezone.
