Anita said next-quarter reporting will provide more precise numbers and the finance team is monitoring options for transfers if needed.
Anita also announced the district’s successful CPC grant application: a $150,000 award toward a replacement Hastings playground. The total playground cost was estimated between $600,000 and $800,000; the CPC award must still be approved by taxpayers at town meeting and the project is planned for the next fiscal year with a town-meeting article expected in 2027.
Committee members additionally reviewed capital notes: Steve (committee member) reported on MSBA contingency certification tied to school projects and described a separate facilities item (Gibbons Field House) considered later in the meeting.
No formal budget transfer was approved at the Jan. 7 meeting; staff were authorized to continue monitoring and to bring options to the committee as needed.
