Highway crews begin paving and mowing season; state denies temporary signal request at 104th and K

Kenosha County Highway Division staff reported start of paving and mowing season, several traffic-signal projects and staffing changes, and said the state rejected a request to re-install a temporary signal at 104th Avenue and County K.
Staff said they have six approved Adopt-a-Highway applications and six additional groups interested. Crews began milling and paving work on County Highway D from Highway 50 north to County Truck J B and have started ditch and urban mowing ahead of July 4 state requirements. Fleet and mechanics staffing updates were given: two mechanics began work and two highway patrol candidates had accepted offers pending pre-employment screening.
Regarding traffic control, staff said a temporary signal at 104th and County K — installed previously during reconstruction — was requested to be reinstalled but the state denied the request; the intersection will remain a four-way stop for now. Staff also described other signal replacements (for example work at 88th and 52nd/50th-area intersections as part of a project) and coordination with the state for temporary closures.
Staff described an upcoming project to install speed radar signs (four units) on part of County K and noted the state requires some mowing and maintenance schedules.
