Council approves Nov. 19 minutes and 2025 meeting schedule; office issues business-license reminder

At its Jan. 7 meeting the Sunset City Council approved the minutes from its Nov. 19, 2024, meeting and adopted the city’s 2025 council meeting schedule.
Councilmember Carlson moved to approve the Nov. 19 minutes; Councilmember Smalley seconded and the council voted in favor. Later, the council considered the 2025 meeting calendar, which staff said will continue to meet on the first and third Tuesdays; because Election Day falls on the fourth Tuesday in November the November meeting was moved to Nov. 5. Councilmember Wrigley moved approval of the calendar; Councilmember Smalley seconded and the council approved the schedule.
Staff also reminded business owners that a 50% late fee will attach to outstanding business-license renewals after Jan. 15 and urged timely renewal. The city clerk/auditor noted the city’s annual audit work is underway and said the auditor will present results at a future meeting.
These items were routine approvals and did not require roll-call votes beyond the recorded motions and aye votes recorded during the meeting.
