County reviews elections software renewal and a Promoting Safe and Stable Families grant amendment

County staff told the Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 24 that the county will renew a software-and-support contract used to process ballots and will approve an amendment to a Promoting Safe and Stable Families contract to reallocate unused funds so the money will be spent locally.
Miss Purcell, who presented the software renewal, said the county’s Agilis Duo ballot-handling equipment and associated software speed post-election signature processing. “It used to take us months. Now, it takes us about an hour,” Purcell said, describing the download of signatures into voter records. The vendor contract renewal was returned to an earlier annual price of about $10,000 for the current year after modest increases in prior years.
On the Promoting Safe and Stable Families contract, staff said the program is in its fifth and final year of a five-year agreement that is reviewed annually. The amendment moves line-item funds that other counties did not use into Montezuma County so the county can use those dollars this year. County staff said the reallocation came at the request of the contract administrator and does not add new overall funding; rather it reallocates existing, unused line-item funds.
No commissioners raised substantive objections during the presentations; staff said they had reviewed the documents and considered the obligations reasonable.
