The organizers told commissioners they expect about 900 participants overall and said some race categories are sold out. They asked the county and fairgrounds staff to approve the event and noted their longstanding practice of keeping proceeds local and distributing funds to community causes.
Organizers said the usual request for alcohol service is two beverages per person but acknowledged that, with participants and logistics, most attendees receive one. They said the solo-rider category has been sold out for weeks, though other categories still have limited slots.
County staff told the organizers the county is reviewing fees across departments and that any fee adjustments will be considered as part of that process. County staff estimated any increases would be “probably” less than 100% and said they expect to finalize fee reviews by July. Commissioners and staff said they are trying to keep event costs low so events continue to bring visitors and local revenue.
Organizers thanked the county, saying proceeds stay in the community and the event now draws multi-day visitor stays. County discussion flagged past weather and infrastructure incidents that have affected events (including a transformer fire mentioned from prior years) but commissioners indicated no objections to the event’s return.
The organizers and commissioners noted that if the county adopts fee increases, staff will communicate timing and magnitude; the organizers asked for notice early enough for race planning.
