Polk County commissioners on Wednesday approved release of the bulk of pay request No. 3 for the Phase 15 landfill construction work and modified the contract—s retainage amount.
County staff told the board that they had previously withheld a portion of the contractor—s payment to ensure final seeding emerged in spring. Since the last meeting, the state issued construction approval for the project, and the county—s consultant provided an updated estimate for seeding liability at $8,804.48.
Staff recommended withholding one-and-a-half times that outstanding liability as a conservative retainage. The board voted to withhold $13,207 and to approve payment of $92,944.42 to the contractor (Zaveril, as listed in the packet). Staff said the withheld amount should be sufficient to address any needed re-seeding in small areas; if more extensive remediation were required, staff will return to the board.
The motions were made and approved by voice vote.
