Board members were briefed Feb. 11 that a previously recommended $200,000 restroom upgrade for a visitor facility was not included in the county’s adopted budget and that any move to add the project would require commission action.
Staff clarified that the TCAB’s earlier recommendation for a $200,000 bathroom upgrade was not included in the final budget approved by the prior county commission. Members were advised to present a formal recommendation to the new commission if they wish to pursue the project; staff also confirmed the expense would be allowable from TRCCA funds if the commission approves it.
Separately, the board approved a $500 sponsorship request for the Advanced Mountain Film Festival. Film-commission staff noted the film-trail marker at Dead Horse Point has been installed and described plans for additional markers at other sites; staff said the film-trail URL and associated media push will launch in spring and that future marker fabrication or placement requests would return to the board for funding decisions.
Board members requested clearer post-budget reporting from the commission: members said a simple summary indicating which TCAB recommendations were adopted, partially adopted or not adopted would help the advisory board track outcomes.
Staff agreed to prepare a short report on which TCAB budget recommendations were included in the adopted budget and to follow up with the commission on steps for revisiting unfunded items.
