Town planner announces June 11 public meeting and new comment form for downtown improvement project

Town planner Jenny Greenberg briefed the Westborough Planning Board on June 3 about the downtown improvement project’s outreach and online materials, and she encouraged public participation at an upcoming meeting.
"The public meeting is on Wednesday, June 11 at 06:00 in this room, Great Hall and the Forbes Building," Greenberg said, describing a project webpage with the downtown plan, goals, schedule and public involvement opportunities. Greenberg said the planning department added a comment form and has been receiving feedback on desired uses, safer crosswalks and other transportation concerns.
Greenberg also reported that the planning team submitted grant applications the department has been working on (the active transportation plan and the Route 9 corridor study) and that the Department of Public Works submitted a separate grant for sewer work downtown, including pipe realignment. She said those applications were submitted ahead of the deadline.
The planner emphasized outreach to schools, local businesses and social media advertising to publicize the June 11 meeting; board members reacted positively to staff’s direct outreach to downtown businesses.
The announcement frames public input as part of the ongoing zoning exercise and design work; the planning department asked interested residents and business owners to use the online comment form or attend the June 11 meeting to offer feedback.
