The Advisory Finance Committee voted to accept a slate of liaison and committee assignments prepared by the chair and discussed at the meeting, and members agreed on a meeting cadence to prepare for the town’s budget summit.
Unidentified Speaker 4 moved that "the committee accepts, for now the, advisory finance committee liaison and committee assignments as sent out by the chair this week as suggested liaison list." Bradley seconded the motion. The committee conducted a roll-call vote; the chair recorded seven members present and the motion passed.
Members emphasized that assignments are a starting point and remain open to change as people’s availability and interest evolve. Several members said liaisons should introduce themselves to the committees they cover and act primarily as communication conduits rather than decision-makers, except where a liaison is also a formal appointee with voting authority on a particular board or project team.
The committee also reviewed meeting scheduling ahead of the budget cycle and tentatively set Thursday, Sept. 4 as its next meeting, with a plan to meet more frequently in the weeks before warrant closing to finalize recommendations and the r and r (rules and regulations) that must be completed in time for printing.
Next steps: The committee will outreach to assigned committees (Affordable Housing Trust, school department contacts, and others) to arrange presentations ahead of the Sept. 29 budget summit and will finalize any changes to liaison assignments as needed.
