Select Board approves routine administrative items: road closure, easement, union contracts and posting method

The Westborough Select Board approved a package of routine administrative items at its April 8 meeting.

Temporary road closure: The board unanimously (5–0) approved a request to temporarily close Jasper Street for Nurse Farm activities on May 10, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m.; the police department supported the closure.

Town Hall alley easement: The board authorized execution of an easement agreement between the town and adjacent property owners to formalize town rights over the alley between 32 and 34 West Main Street, implementing a measure previously approved at 2016 town meeting; the vote was 5–0.

Collective bargaining agreements: The board approved and authorized execution of four collective bargaining agreements that had been negotiated over the prior months and previously reviewed as memoranda of agreement. The contracts cover: Service Employees International Union Local 888 (clerical), the Westborough Police Supervisors Association, the National Association of Governmental Employees Local 01-023 (dispatchers), and the Westborough Professional Firefighters Association. One board member recused from the clerical-union vote due to a spouse’s membership; the remaining votes carried (4–0 with 1 recusal recorded).

Alternative posting method: The board designated www.westboroughma.gov as the town's alternative meeting-posting method under state administrative rules (motion passed 5–0), replacing an older web address for official notices.

These items were presented as routine matters and all passed without extended debate; several board members expressed appreciation to staff and to community volunteers.
