The Town of Westborough has set a public meeting for its downtown development plan on Wednesday, June 11 in the Great Hall, a planning board representative told the Economic Development Committee on April 1.
The representative said the consultant will review current zoning and allowed uses, examine design guidelines for signage, and take public input to shape recommendations. The plan’s first phase includes a zoning review and design guidance intended to inform a bylaw the committee hopes will be ready for the October town meeting.
Staff noted the project has roughly $20,000 in grant funding and a consultant has been hired to prepare the downtown‑specific work. Committee members suggested using the EDC awards event as an opportunity to distribute meeting postcards and other promotional materials to encourage attendance.
The planning board representative and staff emphasized they will solicit feedback on allowed uses and signage so the consultant can refine recommendations before bringing materials to the select board and then to a formal hearing and vote.
