Inkster council approves participation in UM–Dearborn sustainability program, adopts 2026 calendar and authorizes settlement

Inkster’s City Council approved three agenda items by voice vote at its Nov. 17 meeting: a resolution to participate in the University of Michigan–Dearborn Sustainable Cities program, adoption of the 2026 council meeting calendar, and authorization to settle a matter involving Raheem Al Jalahawi.

The council moved and approved the resolution to join the University of Michigan–Dearborn program after an unidentified councilmember introduced the measure for consideration and it was seconded. The record shows the council approved the resolution by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.

The council then considered and approved the proposed 2026 schedule of council meetings. That item was moved and seconded and adopted by voice vote.

Later on the agenda the council approved a motion granting authority to settle the matter involving Raheem Al Jalahawi. The transcript records a motion and second and a voice vote in favor; the meeting record on the public audio/transcript does not specify a settlement amount or further terms.

City staff also reported on the Nov. 4 special election for the Wayne-Westland bond. “All our totals match when I transmitted to the county, so we had another good clean election,” the city clerk reported on the record.

All three formal items were approved on voice votes during the meeting. The council moved from formal business to public participation following the approvals and adjourned later in the evening.
