The second application, for Bridge 53 on 900 North just east of Raleigh, was listed at a total cost of $2,426,872 with a county share of $485,283 over five years; the commission moved and seconded approval.
The third application covers Bridge 93, which crosses Ben Davis Creek on 350 East just north of 200 North. The total cost was listed as $2,550,257, with the county share $510,052 over five years; commissioners moved to approve that application as well.
Speaker 5 later asked county staff (Jerry) for copies of the application materials for the record. During discussion Speaker 4 noted differences in materials and methods used on other new bridges (reference to an “E5” concrete mix), saying the county had experienced only minor, expected cracking and that the vendor’s approach differed from what the county typically uses.
Next steps: staff will file the grant documentation and return with any required follow-up; the motions recorded at the meeting moved each application forward. The commission did not record a detailed roll-call vote in the transcript for these motions.
