Executive director highlights waterfront events, equity work and offshore wind planning

She noted the NBA All-Star Tournament and Lunar New Year celebrations drew hundreds to thousands of visitors and said the Port will host the 47th Lunar New Year run on March 2, a fundraiser serving about 1,600 youth and families through the Chinatown YMCA.
Forbes described SailGP's return to San Francisco in March and said the Port will host a southern waterfront base camp and continue youth programming through Inspire Learning (approximately 60 kids per day last year). She also reported that staff are updating the Port's 10-year capital plan with refinements requested by commissioners, with an updated plan to be presented on March 11.
On equity and contracting, Forbes highlighted a Black digital art collection and the Port's upcoming contract open house to support diverse small-business participation. On resilience, she summarized staff engagement at an offshore wind conference in Long Beach where Port representatives and state officials discussed California's offshore wind goals and potential public-private partnerships to prepare marine terminals for floating wind development.
Forbes also briefed commissioners on a staff report recommending three accounts for write-off under the Port's write-off policy (Resolution 22-11) and closed with a memorial announcement for Francis X. "FX" Crowley, a former commissioner and long-time labor relations consultant; she requested the commission adjourn in his memory.
Commissioners responded with thanks and requests: Commissioner Ingram asked staff to produce digestible economic-impact bullet points after recent events; Commissioner Steven Lee asked follow-up questions about ferry pick-up locations; Vice President Gail Gilman emphasized public messaging about the Port's contribution to the city's economy.
Forbes concluded by thanking staff and commissioners and by reiterating the Port's commitments to equity, economic vitality, and resilience work.
