Westborough EDC seeks to expand ambassador program for business outreach and events

The committee discussed expanding the ambassador program Jan. 7 to better support the EDC coordinator and engage more directly with local businesses.
Committee members described adding responsibilities for ambassadors that include event planning for the annual awards and holiday stroll, vacancy tracking and helping business owners complete grant applications. Pete Allen introduced himself and described the program’s origins, offering to be a very active participant in ambassador outreach and support. "I would...be a very active participant in, supplying whatever can be done," he said.
Staff and the chair said they will meet with the ambassadors to define a job description, recruit additional volunteers and report back to the committee in February. Members also suggested using ambassadors to re‑energize interest in the small-business grant program by visiting new and existing businesses and assisting with application completion.
