Lara, the committee’s community-development lead, presented the branding and wayfinding project timeline on Jan. 7, saying the December survey produced 34 responses and the consultants will present preliminary concepts to an internal stakeholder group in January.
She said the project schedule calls for a public meeting the week of Feb. 24 to gather feedback on conceptual mock-ups, another internal meeting in March and a final draft to the select board late March or early April for consideration. "The final report should include branding recommendations, mock ups of the types of signs that they, believe would be appropriate, and also suggestions for where those signs should be placed," Lara said during the briefing.
Lara also announced a real estate and zoning briefing set for Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Great Hall; presenters will include Jenny Gingras (downtown planning), Andrew Davis (Massport/Worcester Airport director) and Lynn Tokar (business development strategies consultant). The committee discussed a recently passed Turnpike zoning bylaw that allows tradeoffs of open space for sustainability measures and increases planning-board flexibility for Route 9 businesses. Lynn will also update the group on TIF changes following recent state economic development legislation.
The coordinator said she will prepare procurement documents for the next phase (design and implementation) and intends to align outreach materials with the eventual branding design.
