The Buffetown Council voted unanimously Dec. 30 to authorize staff to draft and submit a letter of support for an application concerning the Bluff Airport. Council members emphasized that the letter would express town input only and would not commit town funds.
The chair noted the application deadline is Jan. 6 and proposed the council review a draft immediately so the letter could be finalized and signed in time. An unidentified council member moved to approve the letter template; Erin Nelson, town manager, seconded. Erin Nelson offered to place the letter on town letterhead and circulate it for final review before submission. Jim Hook entered the meeting during the discussion and the chair invited any additional input.
An unidentified council member described the airport project as "a fun project to me and kinda cutting edge," expressing support for expanded airport use. The council did not attach any monetary commitment to the authorization.
Staff were directed to finalize the draft, get it signed, and submit it before the Jan. 6 deadline.
