Westborough EDC narrows award categories, aims to finalize nominees in February

Members discussed outreach to a proposed keynote speaker (the lieutenant governor’s office was mentioned), tentatively held the date of April 27 for the Great Hall and debated how to classify awards. Committee members emphasized distinguishing business awards from awards for community organizations, and agreed the awards subcommittee should develop criteria and a nominee list for consideration at the February meeting.
Committee members named likely categories including: large business (50+ employees), small business, new downtown business, minority‑owned business, innovation and sustainability, with optional awards such as a foodie hall of fame and civic pride. Some members recommended reserving certain awards for businesses only; others said civic organizations could be eligible for civic‑pride recognition.
