Framingham School Committee reelects Barnhill as chair, approves calendar correction and housekeeping items

Framingham — The Framingham School Committee completed its statutorily required reorganization Tuesday, electing officers and taking several administrative votes before moving into a budget hearing.
Member Jessica Barnhill was nominated and elected unanimously as chair for the 2026–27 term; Mayor Charlie Sudisky administered the oath of office and Barnhill thanked colleagues. Jennifer Moshe was nominated and elected vice chair (one abstention recorded) and Rich Robles was elected clerk.
The committee also voted to temporarily continue the finance & operations and teaching & learning subcommittees while the new appointments are finalized, with the chair to appoint one additional member to the finance subcommittee. The motion to continue the subcommittees passed unanimously.
Members approved a technical correction to the 2025–26 academic calendar after administrators said middle schools had been inadvertently omitted from scheduled early dismissal dates on March 26, April 2 and April 9; Dr. Tremblay described the issue as a technical oversight and said communications were drafted pending the vote.
The committee accepted several gifts to district programs, including used books, funds for girls’ ice hockey and other athletics items. Those motions carried by unanimous voice/hand vote.
The meeting closed after administrative items and a public hearing on the FY27 budget; the committee adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
