Miss Northern Utah titleholders highlight scholarships and community service at Davis County meeting

At the Dec. 16 Davis County Commission meeting, Melissa Payne, director of the Miss Northern Utah / Miss Davis County Scholarship Organization, described the local pageant affiliate as a volunteer-run nonprofit that emphasizes scholarships, leadership and year-round community service.
Payne told commissioners the program awarded $22,000 in scholarships at the September competition in partnership with Weber State University and that Miss America–affiliated titleholders participate in measurable service initiatives, including work with the American Heart Association. "It is about education, leadership, service, and developing well-rounded women prepared to lead and serve in their communities," she said.
Commissioners then heard short statements from current titleholders. Noelle Conde, Miss Davis County, outlined a service initiative focused on mental health awareness and resource education and offered to volunteer for county efforts. Teen titleholder Ava Mowsley described an inclusion initiative for children with disabilities and said she has authored a children's book; team titleholder Sianna Doxey described a "Care for Caregivers" initiative supporting families facing chronic illness. Anna (Anna Lea Meek), Miss Northern Utah, described projects including "Crowns for Cancer," hand-crafted headpieces for people undergoing cancer treatment, and said she has logged more than 3,300 hours of community service.
Chair Lorraine Kamalu encouraged the titleholders to help promote county resources, specifically davislinx.org, an online directory of free and low-cost services administered by the county health department.
The presentations emphasized scholarships, youth leadership and service, and commissioners thanked the organization for local partnerships that support student scholarships and community engagement.
