Commission postpones forestry attachment and approves two sheriff-related contract amendments
Summary
The commission postponed a forestry-related attachment (item 16) requested by the sheriff's office and approved two verbal contract amendments (Wellpath LLC contract 20240621 and contract 20150102 with Davis Behavioral Health) to maintain access to criminal justice information systems and deceased-access services for the jail.

At the Nov. 18 meeting the sheriff's office asked the commission to postpone item 16, explaining a statewide forestry contract amendment was still being finalized; the commission agreed to postpone the item.
The commission then considered two verbal amendments to existing contracts. The first was an amendment (number 1) to contract 20240621 with Wellpath LLC to address access to the Utah criminal justice information system for the Davis County Jail; staff said there was no new financial attachment and the amendment keeps the contract in compliance with BCI/IO requirements. The second was a verbal amendment (number 2) to contract 20150102 with Davis Behavioral Health to maintain deceased-access procedures for the Davis County Jail; commissioners approved both amendments.
Why it matters: Contractual access to criminal justice information systems and behavioral-health provider arrangements affect jail operations and legal compliance. Postponement of the forestry attachment indicates staff will return with updated contract language once the state-level contract is aligned.
Next steps: The sheriff's office will follow up with state partners on the forestry contract and staff will finalize the Wellpath and Davis Behavioral Health amendments per the contracts' remaining terms.
"We're in the process of working with the state to get the current contract there," a sheriff's office representative said regarding the forestry attachment request.
