Davis County moves ahead with CommonSpirit naming-rights proposal for Western Sports Park

Davis County staff presented a proposed agreement Nov. 18 to secure arena naming rights at Western Sports Park with CommonSpirit Health (Holy Cross Davis). The proposal would produce receivables of up to $2 million over the contract term and establish the arenas as the CommonSpirit Center at Western Sports Park.
Kent Anderson, director of Community and Economic Development, said the title would apply to Arena 1 and Arena 2 and described a payment structure that delivers about $250,000 per year from 2025 through 2029, with an opportunity for a five-year extension at $150,000 per year from 2030–2034. Anderson said staff will return with final branding elements and an updated Exhibit B.
Why it matters: Naming-rights agreements are a common revenue tool for public venues; the proposed deal would be one of the county's larger receivable contracts and would tie a county sports asset to a healthcare system brand.
Commission comments thanked past partners and welcomed the potential revenue; commissioners approved moving forward with the agreement language and asked staff to finalize logos and brand placement before returning for final sign-off.
Next steps: Staff will finalize Exhibit B and branding, then return to the commission for final approval of the negotiated contract language and artwork.
"The title on it will be the arenas, so Arena 1 and Arena 2, not the entire campus," Kent Anderson said, describing the scope of the proposed naming rights.
