Council approved Resolution No. 25‑22 authorizing the City of Scappoose to apply to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department for Land and Water Conservation Fund assistance to help construct a pedestrian bridge linking Veterans Park and Chief Concomley Park. City Manager Ben Bergner and staff explained the grant would require a 50% local match and that a concept design already exists for the crossing between the parks.
Council moved to authorize the mayor to sign the resolution (motion by counsel Metcalfe; second by Councilor Haugen) and voted by voice to adopt the resolution. Staff noted the application process will provide feedback whether Scappoose is competitive this cycle and that if not awarded the city can refine the proposal and try again in a future round.
