Council sets Jan. 21 public hearing on three Planning Commission nominees

The Snohomish County Council voted Tuesday to set a public hearing for 9 a.m. on Jan. 21, 2026, in GLS to consider three Planning Commission nominations: the reappointment of Angie Sievers, the appointment of Emily Morgan, and the reappointment of Tom Campbell.
Ryan Hembry, council staff, presented a combined staff report, describing the Planning Commission as an 11-member advisory board to the council and county executive and citing county code on desired qualifications. Hembry identified the nominees and their terms: Angie Sievers is an at-large appointment by Executive Summers seeking a second term through 07/01/2029; Emily Morgan is nominated for a District 1 position (first term, through 07/01/2027); Tom Campbell is nominated by District 4 for a second term through 11/24/2029. Hembry also noted that Planning Commission positions require a public hearing by the council.
The council moved and seconded a motion to set the time and date for the hearing and approved it 50. The hearing will allow public testimony on the nominations and related planning matters.
