The Thurston County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve Chapter 1 of its bylaws during the Jan. 21 work session after staff presented a redline version incorporating prior commissioner input. Chair Ty Minster moved to approve the chapter; a second was stated and the board adopted the chapter by voice vote with all members saying "aye."
Commissioners and staff had discussed the redline versus clean versions and confirmed that chapter 2 is complete and will be brought forward to the board soon. Several commissioners thanked the staff member who prepared the drafts (Amy) and noted only minor typographical fixes were needed in the "form of government" section; commissioners agreed that proposed edits will be synthesized by staff and brought to the full board for deliberation when substantive differences arise.
Chair Minster commended Amy for leading the bylaw revision work and the board indicated it will proceed chapter by chapter until the full set is complete.
