Courtney said labor and county negotiators have worked on the issue for nearly four years, that a recently received proposal did not meet earlier agreements with labor relations staff, and asked the board to approve the agreement and continue bargaining in good faith. Because this was public comment and not an agendized item, the chair said the board could not discuss it on the record but noted that the county CEO was aware of the situation and it could be addressed in closed session or through administrative channels.
No formal board action was taken on the public comment during the meeting.
