The Contra Costa County Board on Aug. 5 saw highlights from the first round of Measure X Innovation Fund grantees, including a county‑produced video and a brief report from county staff.
Julie (county staff) said the round‑one projects have completed as of June 30 and highlighted grantee outcomes: food‑bank smart lockers that served more than 600 individuals and 170 families; a Pittsburgh Mobile Family Resources program bringing services to families; an outreach and counselor‑training project that addressed limited Spanish‑language addiction‑treatment beds; device refurbishment and digital‑literacy training that supported affordable internet enrollment; environmental e‑waste diversion; and White Pony Express’s Food Rescue Hero app, which the presentation credited with recovering 1,300,000 pounds of food (equivalent to more than 1,000,000 meals) and reducing greenhouse‑gas emissions by over 2,000 metric tons.
Julie said detailed reports are available in the meeting packet (consent item C26) and that each project has a longer video available on the county’s Innovation Fund web page in English and Spanish. Supervisors praised the projects and asked staff to link the videos from both the Innovation Fund and Measure X pages.
The presentation was celebratory and informational; no new Measure X appropriations or board actions were taken during the public presentation.
