Hunt said the group found candidate sites near O'Fallon Road and Marthasville Road, a second site off Placamier adjacent to Fort Zumwalt Park, and a third reportedly beyond Cool Springs Road known locally as the Printer Cemetery. He referenced a 1928 headstone and local residents who suggested family names (Wilkie/Welky) may be interred at one site. Hunt and an associate named Rick will visit the sites on Thursday to gather more information about ownership, visible markers and condition.
Commissioners agreed the findings merit further fieldwork; no formal action was taken at the meeting. The commission noted that any confirmed historic burial sites may require additional documentation and consultation with county records or preservation partners before proposing protective measures.
