O'Fallon Community Foundation presents funding plans, scholarships and public-art projects

Craig Felt, recreation director for the city of O'Fallon and a board member of the O'Fallon Community Foundation, gave a 20-minute presentation to the Senior Resident Advisory Committee on Jan. 12 outlining the foundation’s recent reorganization, fundraising and program priorities.
Felt said the foundation, established in 1998, shifted its focus from only preserving historic sites to funding programs that directly benefit residents. He described longstanding support for Project HOME and said OCF’s golf tournament has raised more than $500,000 for that program. Felt told the committee the foundation received funding through the mayor’s charity ball in 2025 that will allow it to expand scholarships beyond the current swim-lesson and day-camp offerings.
On scholarships, Felt said the program covers recreation activities for residents below 185% of the federal poverty level and that applications are available at the Renaud Center; he said John at the Renaud Center oversees the scholarship process. Felt emphasized swim lessons as a safety priority and said the foundation aims to expand programming for additional ages and activities.
Felt also reviewed ongoing community projects, including wrapping traffic-control boxes with historic photos; he listed four locations where boxes are already wrapped and said the program will continue with sponsor support. He summarized recent and planned fundraising events (50/50 raffles at concerts, trivia nights and partnership activities) and encouraged committee members to direct interested donors to the foundation’s website for contributions.
Felt closed by inviting questions and by offering OCF’s assistance at the senior fair, including setting up an informational table.
