The Pierce County Council and executive proclaimed Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, as Wreaths Across America Day in Pierce County and encouraged community participation in local wreath-laying ceremonies.
Councilmember Amy Krueger read the proclamation into the record and listed planned wreath placements: 2,265 wreaths at the Washington Soldiers Home Cemetery in Orting, 1,101 at Camp Lewis Post Cemetery (Joint Base Lewis–McChord), 121 at Artondale Cemetery in Gig Harbor, 155 at Royce Cemetery, and 84 at Anderson Island Cemetery.
Speakers from Roy Cemetery, the American Legion and local volunteer groups described small-cemetery logistics, volunteer counts, convoy plans and safety escorts for larger events. Organizers asked the public to attend and volunteer; councilmembers thanked them for their work and photographed participants on the dais.
