Westborough EDC approves three $5,000 small‑business grants

The Westborough Economic Development Committee voted Tuesday to award three $5,000 grants to local small businesses seeking build‑out, equipment and technology upgrades.

Live Action Escapes, a Worcester‑based escape‑room operator led by Amanda (owner), told the committee it plans to open a Westborough location at 276 Turnpike Road and requested $5,000 toward build‑out and materials. Amanda said the new space would start with about four to five part‑time employees and could expand to roughly 10 if demand grows. After clarifying square footage and invoices, the committee moved to approve the grant and recorded a roll‑call vote in favor.

Ramon, owner of the recently opened Tacoboro food truck, asked for $5,000 to purchase refrigeration and generator equipment to support regular Westborough operations and special events. Ramon said he is negotiating kitchen and truck parking arrangements nearby and plans a grand opening later this month. The committee voted to grant $5,000 to the Tacoboro operation.

The committee also approved a $5,000 grant to Ryan Wood of the Movement Room to fund an upgraded golf simulator and related technology intended to expand class offerings, allow rentals and create part‑time jobs. Ryan told members his business saw a revenue increase last year and that the upgrade would support community events and youth programming.
