Select Board members reviewed and approved a three‑year collective bargaining agreement between the Town of Westborough and the DPW union (FY26–28).
Town staff highlighted contract provisions: a $300 referral bonus for hires, increases to the annual clothing allowance ($1,000 in FY26, $1,050 in FY27, $1,100 in FY28), double time for emergency overtime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., a $150 annual meal allowance, and 2.5% cost‑of‑living adjustments in each contract year. Market adjustments add a new top step to two classifications (W4 and W5). The contract expands license stipends (a $400 annual stipend for valid commercial driver’s licenses plus $150 per approved endorsement up to a $1,000 annual maximum) and authorizes a master mechanic stipend and additional trainer responsibilities for CDL trainers; it also expands post‑accident and reasonable‑suspicion drug testing language.
The contract was presented as a fair settlement by the town and the union; the board moved, seconded and approved execution of the agreement by a roll call vote recorded as 4–0 for those present.
Ending: Town staff will execute the contract and monitor implementation; board members thanked staff and union representatives for negotiating the agreement.
