Brady Wildes, speaking for EMS, updated the council on the remodel of the Cass Area Transit building it purchased with multiple parties' involvement. Wildes said the EMS internal committee reviewed four bids and the EMS board recommended selecting Steinberger Construction to perform the remodel.
Wildes said the city of Logansport granted a temporary occupancy waiver conditioned on the remodel, noting outstanding issues such as restroom and egress configurations and pending fire-suppression items. He said the parties planned to complete certain corrections over the next month or two rather than spending large sums immediately on fixes that would be addressed in the remodel.
On operations, Wildes described a phased approach intended to keep ambulances operational during construction. He said the garage and living‑quarters work would be phased so EMS could continue to use parts of the facility, but he warned that ambulances might need to be parked outside for periods and that outdoor parking could present temperature and narcotics-storage concerns.
Wildes said the recommendation would be presented to the county commissioners and that details of phasing and temporary accommodations (including contractor-provided housing if necessary) would be worked out with Steinberger.
Ending: EMS requested the council’s awareness and blessing; the council asked clarifying questions but did not take a formal vote.
