Bellevue Board holds statutorily required hearing on student fees; district reports meal and fee collections

The Bellevue Board of Education held the public hearing required by state law to review the student-fees policy during the July 7 meeting. Board staff noted that Nebraska law requires an annual public hearing to review both the amounts collected from students and the use of waivers provided under the policy.
For the prior school year the district reported collecting $1,669,700 for breakfast and lunch through the school-lunch program. The district also reported $50,044 in reimbursements to the district for student activity cards, property loss or damage, materials for alternate projects that become student property, and fees for late library books. The board invited public comment; no speakers came forward and the chair declared the hearing closed.
