Rhonda Giles, executive director of the Tri County Chamber of Commerce, briefed the Junction City Council Tuesday on chamber activities, membership and upcoming events aimed at promoting local businesses.
Giles said membership has risen to 212 from about 180 three years ago and highlighted a new podcast and social-media outreach that delivered thousands of views after the Scandinavian Festival. She described planned events including downtown trick-or-treat, holiday bazaars designed to draw visitors to restaurants and stores, a Dec. 5 parade with a Charlie Brown Christmas theme, and a Nov. 20 distinguished service awards banquet (nominations due Oct. 20).
Giles invited councilors to attend chamber lunch forums and other events and said the chamber is working on permit coordination for events that cross multiple jurisdictions. Councilors thanked Giles and had no further questions.
